Mythicon Code of Conduct

Alcoholic Beverages 

Mythicon is a family-friendly event so we ask participants to refrain from being publicly intoxicated.  Anyone found with alcohol who are under 21 or who provides alcohol to anyone under the age of 21 will be removed from the event without a refund and may be permanently banned from attending future events. 

Alcoholic beverages should not be visible during daytime hours, but can be enjoyed responsibly during evening hours. 

Best Behavior

To build this magical realm, we need all participants to be respectful of one another and to our hosts at the hotel.  We are guests here and need to treat those who are taking care of us and those we are sharing space with with kindness and care.  Behavior that is considered to be harmful, harassing, or in any way damaging can result in being removed without a refund and possibly being banned from attending in the future.  

Children/Teenage Participants

Any participant aged 12 or under must be accompanied by an adult the entire event.  Participants aged 13-17 must have an adult present at the event, but do not need to be accompanied as long as their adult can be contacted in case of an emergency.  

Emergency contact number for children will be documented at registration to contact a parent in case of emergency or lost child.

Costumes

Costuming is strongly encouraged.  Costumes should be appropriate for a family atmosphere meaning private parts that would be expected to be covered in public should be covered, costuming should not be disrespectful to another person’s culture or display anything that would be considered “hateful” or inappropriate in a public setting.   

Covid-19

We are following the guidelines of the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Masks are optional, but not required.  

Damage/Theft

Participants will be financially responsible for any damages they cause in the hotel.  Guests staying in the hotel will have their own credit card put on file in case of damages to their room.  

Any participant caught stealing from the event/market/hotel will be removed from the event without a refund and may be permanently banned from the event and may be prosecuted.

Harassment Free Zone

Mythicon is a family-friendly event and all participants are required to treat each other with respect.  Words and actions that are actively harmful or derogatory, especially when degrading a person’s gender, ethnicity, sexual orientation, or disability is not tolerated and can result in being removed from the event without refund and banned from future events.  

Mythicon is an amazing place to make and build connections, but in all things, consent is crucial.  If anyone is indicating they are not okay with what you are doing, that means “no.” Stalking, leering, unwelcome comments or touching are not tolerated and can result in being removed from event without refund and being banned from future events.  

Mythicon does not allow discrimination of any kind including discrimination against age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity, or disability.

If you feel threatened by someone and need assistance, please come to registration.  

Help Needs/Lost Children

For any needs of assistance, go to registration and ask for assistance or find a staff person who will be wearing a staff badge or glowing blue wristband.  

Parents should tell their children to come to registration if they are lost.  Parents should also take a picture of their child when they arrive so staff can see what the child is wearing that day and make it easier for them to help them get found. 

Hotel and Room Parties

All participants staying at the hotel are asked to treat their rooms like the guests we are.  We have been invited into this space and we need to show our hosts how gracious the fae can be.  Please be respectful of your space and remember the people who will clean up after us are people and deserve better than to be left a hot mess.  All overnight guests will have their own credit cards on file with the hotel and will be billed for any damages. 

Anyone who hosts a room party are responsible for any mess made and should be respectful of neighbors.  If anyone asks you to turn it down, do it or you may be asked to end your party or leave the event without a refund.  

Anyone hosting a room party where alcohol is served to anyone under 21, even is it is served by someone else,  will be removed from the event and banned from future events.  

The hotel has asked us to respect their walls so please do not tape anything to the walls or use thumbtacks or anything that may cause damage.  

Lost and Found

Mythicon is not responsible for lost or stolen items.  We will make reasonable assistance to attempt to help find lost items and provide a lost and found at registration in case items are found.  

Photography

Ask for permission before taking pictures no matter how magical the costume!  This goes for the person in the coolest costume, the cutest kid, the most surprisingly silly stunt pulled.  If they say “okay,” snap away.  If they say “no”(or anything that isn’t yes or okay), time to go!

Pool Area

The pool is open during the hours posted by the hotel.  Participants are expected to be clothed with the type of body coverage they would have at a public pool with children present. 

Refunds

Tickets and rooms are not refundable.  Any exception to the rule is at the discretion of the organizers.

Weapons

Please refrain from bringing or using actual weapons.  Costume weapons are allowed if handled safely as a prop at the discretion of appropriately designated Mythicon staff.  Please refrain from fighting with (even in good fun) or swinging your prop on hotel grounds.  Anything that looks like a real weapon is not allowed, even if it is fake.  

Wristbands

All participants above age 6 MUST wear wristbands during the event.  If you lose your wristband, please go to registration to check in again for a new one.  People will be turned away from event rooms without being to show a valid wristband.  Sharing or selling of wristbands can result in being removed from the event or being banned from other events
